Here are some of the features, which you must look for in carpet cleaners.

1) Since it is "carpet cleaner" it must have wheels at the bottom, so that you can easily move them around for cleaning all corners are areas with ease. Also check the length of the power chord so that you can move around easily.

2) You must check the weight of the steam carpet cleaner, before and after the water is filled in. It is quite obvious that you will be using the carpet cleaner with water filled in it for producing steam. You must be able to move it easily even after water filled in.

3) Another advantage of checking the weight is, you must be able to lift it to upper floors by hand.

This feature is important because not al surfaces will require equal amount of heat. Also check the temperature of the steam that gets produced. For home use it must be 240 to 260 degrees.

5) Does the carpet comes as a package with cleaning accessories such as cleaning brushes, towels, etc. Also all other standards features such as servicing of the steam carpet cleaner of anything goes wrong, warranty, etc, must be checked. One of the most important points to consider while servicing is that, do the company have a service center in your local city or do they send your carpet cleaner to somewhere else for servicing. It should not happen that 15 days have gone in servicing your steam carpet cleaner because of the time taken in transportation from one city to another.

Outdoor Fountain Care and Maintenance

Fountains are a great addition to your garden, but it takes a lot of work to keep it that way. A weather-beaten path can still look attractive, but a dry, dirty fountain can ruin the entire look of your garden. Indeed, even the most expensive fountains wont last long if not given proper care. Heres how you can take care of your fountain and make sure it lasts for years.

CLEANING

Copper: For powder-finished copper, use a wax cleaner every two to three months and wipe dry areas every other day to prevent water spots. Natural copper finishes dont need much maintenance, but if you want to delay patina formation, wipe daily with furniture polish.

Steel: Simply wipe clean with a damp sponge or soft cloth. Dont use bleach or anything containing bleachthis will not only discolor the steel, but also eat away at the pump.

Glass/Acrylic: Use glass or plastic polish to remove dust and water stains. Be sure to remove the water before cleaning, as the solution can damage the pump. Dont use window cleaning or scouring compounds. To remove scratches from acrylic, use an abrasive-free plastic polish or a restoration kit.
Stone/Ceramic/Marble: Wipe at least once a month with a cleaning solution and soft cloth. If the stone is painted or coated, use milder solutions to keep from damaging the finish.

WINTERIZING

Cold weather is the biggest threat to fountains, especially the large stone ones. Some areas expand more than others, which can cause considerable splitting and cracking over the years. To minimize this, dont let water collect and freeze in the bowls during the season. Drain all the water from the fountain before the first freeze, and if possible, keep it indoors. If it cant be moved, get a fountain cover and line the insides with something absorbent (such as sponge, newspaper or carpet cover).

PUMP MAINTENANCE

Pump cleaning is actually one of the easier tasks, but also one of the most important. Clean your pumps regularly, preferably once a month in soft water areas and twice a month in hard water. Take the pump apart following the manufacturers instructions, then soak the parts in vinegar solution. This will dissolve any mineral deposits that could interfere with water flow. However, keep in mind that pumps have a life limita well maintained pump should last up to three years before it needs replacement.

Never let your fountain run dry. Most pumps are submersible, which means they are designed to work underwater. Put off refilling for even a few hours and youll return to a burned out pump. If youre going out of town, be sure to unplug your pump before leaving.

WATER CIRCULATION

Keep fountain water running at all times. Stagnant water can breed harmful bacteria and spread disease; circulating will incorporate oxygen and inhibit bacteria growth. Drain all the water from the fountain if you have to turn off the pump for long periods. In most fountains you can use the pump to drain the water directly into a sink or bucket.

ALGAE CONTROL

Algae thrive under bright light, so its best to place your fountain in a shady area. If this is not an option, just change the water more often, about once a month (normal cycle is about three times a year). Clean the fountain with commercial algaecide, mouthwash, or lemon juice to prevent recurrences.

WATER LEVELS

Following proper water levels will keep your pumps in good condition. Follow the manufacturers recommended levels and check them every day. Instead of pouring in a fresh load occasionally, add small amounts of water over several days. This way, you avoid any drastic excess which can damage your pumps.

The bed bug is a small wingless insect that feeds on the blood of warm blooded creatures, LIKE YOU! How creepy! Nearly eradicated after World War II, the bed bug has made a dramatic comeback. Why? The bed bug spray used today is less effective because of the ban on DDT. Couple that with an increase in global travel and you have a new epidemic of bed bug infestations.

What do you do to kill the little blood suckers? To get rid of the bed bug requires a combination of approaches, so before you embark on this quest, make sure you have an active infestation, many different kinds of bugs appear similar to bedbugs. Dont through away your mattress and furniture. Plan an effective bed bug treatment. Bed bug control, while not easy, is possible.

An effective bed bug treatment includes

1) Cleaning - Clean all infested areas, scrubbing with a stiff brush to remove any eggs. A strong vacuum can be used to get them out of cracks. Make sure to take out drawers and dismantle bed frames to get all hiding places, if possible carefully turn furniture over.

Baseball Shirts - Choosing the Right Shirt

Baseball shirts bear a team's name or logo. They are usually worn by the fans of a team as means to show their support and admiration for the team. However, they can also be worn casually. You can easily identify baseball shirts because their sleeves are not in the same color as the torso.

Kinds of baseball shirts

Baseball shirts can be classified according to the wearer:

1. Children shirts for children are made to fit small kids to those in their early adolescence. Several of these have child-friendly logos and designs like cartoon characters and a baseball team mascots.

2. Men shirts for men are large and have straighter torsos. The sleeves are wide to fit large upper arms and are straight.

3. Women -shirts for women are slightly smaller in size compared to those for men. They have slimmer sleeves with a much snugger fit around a woman's arms. They are usually curved or tapered at the waist to fit the figure of a female.

Choosing your shirt

When shopping for baseball shirts, make sure that they fit properly on your body and they do not restrict your movements. You can buy loose ones but make sure they are not baggy because it will look distracting and it can give you a disproportionate appearance. Another thing to consider when buying a baseball shirt is the comfort.

Mind the comfort

Choose a shirt that is made of comfortable, smooth, and lightweight fabrics that will not irritate your skin. The most comfortable fabrics for a baseball shirt is either cotton or polycotton because they are breathable and soft. Furthermore, those types of fabrics are ideal for children who want to wear those shirts.

Baseball - Barry Bonds Is a Whole Lot More Than Just a Home Run Hitter and Record Setter - Part 2

A day prior to Tom Glavine's historic 300th career victory, Barry Bonds hit his 755th homer to tie Hank Aaron's career mark, and Alex Rodriguez became the youngest player in major league history to hit his 500th homer.
Bonds' record-tying Jimmy Jack (homer) was a 382-foot opposite field smash off San Diego Padre pitcher Clay Hensley in an away game.

When Bonds tied Hank Aaron with 755 homers, he had played in 343 less games than Aaron and had 2,596 less at bats.
Bonds would break Aaron's record on August 7, 2007 with a 435-foot home run into the right-center field bleachers off Mike Bacsik of the Washington Nationals. His homer came on a 3-2 count.

At the time he achieved his record, Bonds had hit homers off of 447 different pitchers.
In addition to the new home run record, Bonds also holds the major league career records for walks with 2,540 and intentional walks with 679.
He holds the all-time single season major league records for most home runs (73), on base percentage (.609), slugging percentage (.863), and walks (232).

Barry Bonds is a whole lot more than just a home run hitter and record-setter.
He has been a record 7-time National League Most Valuable Player (next closest player has 3 MVP Awards), 3-time Major League Player of the Year, 14-time All-Star, 8-time Golden Glove winner and 2-time National League batting champion.

In addition to power hitting and excellent fielding Bonds also has something else going for himspeed.
Bonds is the only member of the 500-500 club, meaning he has hit at least 500 home runs (758 and counting) and stolen 500 bases (514 and counting). He is also only 1 of 4 players all-time to be in the 40-40 club, meaning he has hit 40 home runs (42) and he has stolen 40 bases (40) in the same season.

Many baseball fans and pundits feel that Bonds' record is tainted because of possible steroid use, but the vast majority of San Francisco Giant fans love Barry Bonds.
Steroid use or not, he still had to hit the ball, field the ball and run the bases. Make no mistake about it, Barry Bonds is one incredible player; some would argue that he is the best baseball player ever.

At the top of this article I said that Glavine's accomplishment was better than Bonds' home run record. I said this because Alex Rodriguez at age 32 already has 500 home runs and, unless he has extraordinary injury problems like Ken Griffey Jr., will likely break Bonds' record.
Despite his injuries in recent years, Ken Griffey Jr. has hit 590 home runs and counting. Griffey is 37 but a strong finish to his career (now that he is healthy again) could mean that he could break the all-time home run record before A-Rod.

The projections say A-Rod could top 800 home runs before he retires. Frank Thomas (known as "The Big Hurt") smacked his 500th homer earlier this season and at 39 is much older than A-Rod.
A-Rod hit his 500th homer 8 days after his 32 birthday, surpassing Jimmy Foxx (32 years and 338 days) as the youngest player in history and 22nd player in history to reach 500.

After A-Rod jacked out No. 500, New York Yankee Manager Joe Torre said, "His prime years are ahead of him . . . this is a stop-off for him . . . not a destination."
A-Rod may not be the last word in baseball, but he will be heard. Consider this:
Since 1996 (his first full season) through 2006 (11 seasons) Alex Rodriguez leads the major leagues in home runs, runs scored, runs batted in, total bases and extra base hits.

Of all players in baseball history at age 30, he is 1st all-time in both home runs and runs scored, 2nd in total bases and extra base hits, 3rd in runs batted in, and 4th in hits. The former Seattle Mariner is on fire and smoking hot. And check this out:

In his first 11 years, A-Rod has more homers, ribbies, runs and base hits than all-time leaders Barry Bonds (homers), Hank Aaron (ribbies), Rickey Henderson (runs scored) and Pete Rose (hits) did prior to their 30th birthdays.
A-Rod is also known for signing the richest contract in sports history, a 10-year, $252 million deal.

It is true that soccer wonder David Beckham recently signed a 5-year, $250 million deal with the L.A. Galaxy team; however, only $27.5 million of Beckham's deal is salary, the rest comes from endorsements.
And Beckham cannot even win on the endorsement front as once-in-a-lifetime golfer Tiger Woods earns $112 million annually on endorsements alone.

(Editor's Note: This is Part 2 of a 3-Part Series.)

Baseball Throwing Part Four - Throwing to the Circle

The next thing has to do with the striding foot. If you have a catcher that is having a little trouble with accuracy or if you have an outfielder that is having a little trouble hitting the cutoff man, you might want to check their striding foot. See where it is landing because a lot of kids will throw across their body.

Other kids have problems by opening up a little too much. So, you have to try the little coaching technique I always use and the same thing in hitting that Ben Hines was talking about and it's the same thing in pitching and that is the belly button.

I like for a guy to get the belly button lined up with the person to whom he is throwing. When he gets it, he has the hip and the shoulder going for him and then when he opens up, that belly button has to come around and be right in line with the person to whom he is throwing. That is going to help arm angle and is going to help release point.

Those are two things that accuracy is built on.

When players warm up, they should warm up with certain purposes in mind.

1) To get the arm loose, obviously.

I think it goes a lot further than that. I think that they need to warm up also to work on these mechanics.

2) Accuracy.

Now, the mental side of it comes in and this is where a lot of guys have problems because sometimes it is pretty boring to warm up, to go down and play catch.

I have a rule in my program that when we warm up you don't talk. Because in a game where you have to make important throws, you don't talk, so we work on concentrating and I think this is a very important part in teaching correct throwing habits.

Now, if you ask any baseball player where he likes to catch the baseball, they will show you the same place. They like the ball right in the chest, right up there.

Even if they lower the center of gravity, it is still right there. They want the ball right there where it is easy to handle. What I think is important is to build on that by working with your people throwing.

If you can get them to visualize an imaginary circle starting with the letter on the hat, to this shoulder, to the belt buckle, to the other shoulder and try to get them to throw the ball with straight back spin on a straight line or a slightly downward plane, into this circle. Work on it constantly when they warm up and I believe you throwing accuracy is going to improve.

There are some games you can play. Bragg Stockton used some stuff called Skip-and-Throw-for-Points where his kids are working on throwing into this circle and if they hit right in the middle, it is five points, if it is in the circle it is two points, and out of the circle no points.

It is a good drill because it emphasizes what is very important and that is to put the ball right into this area where it is easy for the guy to handle.

The next thing that is part of throwing is the hand position when you catch the baseball.
